Grade 1 have been learning to read and play rhythms using traditional notation and keeping a steady beat. In this recording you can hear them trying to read very a simple rhythm made up of four two beat notes followed by eight one beat notes. It's rather untidy and there's some obvious uncertainty in the group, so it's evident that we'll need to continue working on this next time. It should be stressed that they can all play this rhythm, but what is new here for some of the class is having to read it.
