Grade 1 have been finding out about the problems faced by many diffrent animals as part of their Unit of Inquiry. To help them with this we used music as a way to explore the characteristics of certain creatures, some familiar, some less so.
This term Grade 1 have been listening to the sounds around us and making music out of the sounds that we never usually notice. This particular piece, called
Sunset Sounds includes the sound of clocks ticking, water dripping and heating systems rumbling.
This recent recording of Grade 1's work on rhythms shows some real progress. In their previous post they were trying to read very a simple rhythm made up of one and two beat notes. In this session they not only managed to do the original rhythm accurately, but they could add to it another more complex one and alternate between the two. There are one or two stray notes, but...
