Watch this! Grade 4 have had a lot of fun making this video to go with the music we recorded a few weeks ago. We hope you enjoy it too.

How we did it:

  • First we recorded the music, singing solos and singing as a whole class.
  • Then we worked in two groups to make up our own dance routines and then we rehearsed until it was presentable. (No time to get things perfect, we were just aiming for 'presentable'!)
  • Next the whole class sketched storyboards to help plan the video and get some ideas. Most people took their ideas from the words of the song which are in French, but roughly translate into English as:

Brother Jaques,
Are you sleeping?
Morning bells are ringing,
Ding, dang, dong.

  • We then filmed the dance routines whilst listening to the music. The first time we wore 'disco' clothes and the second time we did it exactly the same, but wearing pyjamas. This was so that we could cut the two dance routines together in the final video.
  • We then filmed ourselves sleeping and waking up, followed by some film of various alarm clocks.
  • Finally we filmed ourselves just dancing wildly and being silly on the stage - good fun.
  • Mr Jackson edited the video together and showed us it at various stages before it was finished.
  • Finally, we showed it to everyone on a big screen in the end of term concert and at the same time published it for download on this web page.
