Our recording sounds a bit wobbly, but we can certainly play it better now and hope to have it just right for our Summer Concert performance in a few weeks time.
Grade 5 began using this piece to learn some chords on the guitars and on keyboards. We then developed our version of it to turn the class into a mini orchestra with strings, brass and percussion instruments.
By looking closely at the music we also discovered some interesting things that may help us understand why this melody is so memorable:
- each phrase of the melody is the same length (4 bars)
- parts of the melody are repeated several times
- the rhythm of each phrase is almost identical
