Japanese composer, Ryuichi Sakamoto wrote this haunting music for the movie 'Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence'. Listen to Grade 6 do an excellent performance of it in a lunchtime concert.

The music is made up of several repeating patterns, called ostinatos, which you can hear being introduced one at a time. Each pattern is different, but carefully written so that they all work well together. 
The next project Grade 6 do will be to write their own music built out of ostinatos. Check back here in a few weeks to hear the results...
